Is It Safe To Go To Mexico For Your Vacations?

Thinking

In June 2009, the World Health Organization (WHO) raised the worldwide pandemic alert to phase 6. And with the current media coverage of swine flu some are wondering if it’s just another flash in the pan orchestrated by governments and TV while others try to get prepared to the worth, thinking that the end of human race could be close!

But some of us also try to stand in the middle. If you have chosen to keep up with your regular life while keeping an eye open, you probably have an important question in mind right now… Where on earth should I spend my summer vacations?

Do you want to have fun in the sun and in the meantime avoid high risks situations as a precaution? Let’s try to establish a simple vacations strategy.

First, who is traveling with you?

The CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention www.cdc.gov ) is explaining common sense precautions for your travel plans. Take a look at their list of travelers at high risks for complications which includes kids bellow five years of age as an example.

So you have to cancel the annual family trip with your not so cool young mother in law? Life can be so cruel… More seriously, if you plan to travel with one of those high risks people, ask some advices to your doctor and pick a country where the swine flu situation is not too bad.

Where would you like to go?

Again, check the CDC website for a current state of the pandemy, general information and maps. In some countries it is now winter time and the virus is spreading very fast. In others the level of risks is still low and if you take every day actions to stay healthy you can enjoy your days off as if nothing else was more important than relaxation!
